Born in the south of France in 1925, Eugene Sandrini is considered to be one of the best post impressionist painters of the 20th century. He grew up in the Provence region of France where he studied the hills full of color, the small villages nested among the silvered olive trees, and the lavender fields. He studied the metamorphosis of light by observing how it danced upon the landscapes and the sea. The Socitaire du Salon des Artistes Franaise described his work: "Sandrini celebrates nature as God conceived it. This luminosity which strikes one at first glance, bursts forth in the style with an enthusiasm which lends intense life to his landscapes of Provence and its Mediterranean coast."

Since 1962 his work has been exhibited in Paris, Toulon, Bourges, Cannes, Strasbourg, Nancy, Geneva, Lausanne, and in the United States.
